The Travelling Tea Trays have arrived!

On Friday August 24th the first Hadlow Down ‘Travelling Tea Tray’ initiative had its first coffee morning. The sun shone, and at The Corner Cottage, Wilderness Lane nine members of our community sat in the garden drinking tea, eating fabulous biscuits and cakes, chatting and laughing. It was a lovely, friendly atmosphere where conversation never stopped, and I felt that I too had made new friends.

Hadlow Down Tea Trays 2The ‘Travelling Tea Trays’ is an exciting new initiative by local charity ENGAge, and the aim is to bring older people in the community together for conversation and friendship combatting isolation and loneliness, so prevalent in rural areas. The coffee mornings could be in your own home, local café or even a garden centre (transport can be provided).

If you think you might be interested in hosting a coffee morning please call Julia Cuppini, Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator for ENGAge on 07768 998926 or phone me, Roberta Smyth on 01825 830009.
