An outing to Firle Place on a hot summer’s day!

Local charity Engage Wealden, who run the TN22 Club and TN22 Plus Club treated their members to a fantastic day out on Friday 6th July 2018 when they took them on a visit to Firle Place, a grand stately home near Lewes that has been in the hands of the Gage family for over 500 years.  The outing was very popular, with 28 members, carers and volunteers enjoying the trip and whilst the weather was very hot it didn’t spoil the day.

Firle Place opened their doors just to Engage, TN22 Clubs, which made it extra special. The outing started with tea and coffee and then a tour of the house for over an hour which was brought to life with interesting anecdotes and historical references delivered by the well-informed guide.  Then a delicious lunch of assorted sandwiches, home-made cakes, scones with jam and cream was enjoyed by all followed by some relaxation time in the shade on the terrace overlooking the beautiful vista.  Before returning home, everyone had a short walk round the gardens which were at their very best, and commented on what a lovely day out it had been.
